What “Chaos in the Corner” Is All About
“A world of pure imagination…” or maybe some other lazy Willy Wonka metaphor
If you’re reading this, that means you’ve found my newsletter! “But Evan,” some of you might say, “I thought you were going to do a podcast? Should I read this? Does the world really need another letter from some white amateur with messy opinions?”
The answers, in reverse order, are no, yes, and I’m too cheap to buy podcast equipment! Plus, you want me to spend time learning how to use it all? I have to spend afternoons at an Apple Store training session, next to a septuagenarian learning what “Face ID” is? No, I think not. I’ll put it the same way as Jesus once said: “You’ve got me all fucked up if you think I’m learning sound mixing.”
But if you’re brand new to all of this, “Chaos in the Corner” is going to be a weekly, possibly semi-weekly, newsletter. The topics within it will vary broadly, from current events and news, to movies and tv shows, to books that I am WAY too late to the party on. You’ll get my analyses, thoughts, and half-assed attempts at jokes.
I’ll also try my best to talk about some things that aren’t in the broader conversation. Instead of subjecting you to one more caucasian male’s thoughts about Squid Game, maybe we’ll instead revisit Silence of the Lambs, and why it’s still a terrific movie.
Some upcoming content in “the Corner” will include:
Midnight Mass
Robert Durst
white privilege
Chris Thile
True Blood and why guilty pleasures aren’t a thing
Succession favorite moments
The Eternals
The French Dispatch
and of course a lot more. Subscription details will be made clear soon (it’s hard to ascribe a monetary value to oneself, okay?), but I truly hope that you will be able to join me in the weeks to come. Cheers!
